It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I welcome you to West Side High School for the 2009-2010 school year. Our theme for this year is "Visions of Excellence."  I am requesting that we do everything at West Side High School with decency, with order, high standards, and high expectations. Our goal is to ensure that every one of our students receives a top notch quality education and is prepared for college, work and life. However, as educators, we cannot do it without the support, assistance, and involvement of our parents/guardians. You are a valuable resource and our partners in education.

As the new Principal of West Side High School, it has been a joy working with your incredible children thus far. My staff and I remind our students every day that they are #1 and the best, and we expect them to act as such. We use and live by a four letter word now; that word is CARE.

At West Side High School, we must raise the bar, and we are. We can't stop; we won't stop. Everyone must and will be held accountable as we strive to transform our school from ordinary to extraordinary. My outstanding team of administrators, teachers, and staff are committed to working collaboratively with you and your child (our precious jewels). Please join us for what is going to be an exciting, challenging, productive, fun and phenomenal school year. Below are a few crucial items you need to be aware of:

§  Students begin wearing school uniforms on September 30, 2009. (See school uniform information here)

§  All students are to be at school by 8:00 am. Free breakfast begins at 7:30 am. Classes start promptly at 8:20 am. Students arriving after 8:40 am must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. School ends at 2:40 pm.  

§  Cell phones and iPods are collected and secured upon entry into school and returned to students at dismissal.

§  The West Side High School graduation ceremony will be held at the Prudential Arena in Newark on June 26, 2010, at 9 am sharp. (tentative)

§  The Senior Prom is scheduled for May 27, 2010, at Westmount Country Club, 728 Rifle Camp Road in West Paterson, New Jersey 07424

§  The last day of school for students is June 29, 2010.

§  The last day of school for teachers is June 30, 2010.
